A Simple Flakey piecrust

Makes 1 double crust pie....just double everything for 2 pies
2 cups sifted flour 1 cup soft Crisco shortening
1/4 TBSP salt 1/2 cup ICE water...Don't ask me why but cold water is not good enough

Mix flour, salt, shorting together well then begin adding a little of the ice water at a time mixing as you go.. Roll out 1/2 the dough to cover the bottom of the pie pan saving the cut off edges. Add pie filling then roll out remaining dough fold over the top of pie seal with a pinch creating a scalloped edge. Baking time varies with the fillings place the cut scraps on a cookie sheet sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon bake at 375 about 10 to 12 mins...

Foundation Sweet Rolls

This makes a really good sweet dinner roll and my Mom has used it for things like cinnamon rolls also.

4 TBSP sugar 2 well beaten eggs
1 1/3 cups of scalded milk cooled to be just warm 1/2 cup soft shortening added to the milk
1 tsp salt

Mix the sugar yeast and warm water in a small glass bowl remember as the yeast activates it does expand the solution....DUH!..Whars my sign...LOL Used too small bowl one time. after the yeast is well started mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl add 4 cups of unsifted white flour mixing evenly. Let dough stand 1 hr in a warm area. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness using about a 4 inch diameter glass or cookie cutter cut into circles. Brush 1/2 of each roll with with melted butter or margine, fold over and pinch the edges to seal. Let stand 1 more hr. Bake at 450 for 12 to 15 min.
